“ Zhen & Nian Multiverse ”

As mentioned in the previous blog post, our project is very much inspired by the multiverse in the movie “ Everything, Everywhere, All at once “. We wanted to give our humorous comment on the idea of multiverse or reincarnation.

The concept for us started with a popular and critically acclaimed TV series “甄嬛传” and one of its most iconic scenes. Using that conversation and expanding it into different time periods and ideas of “existing” is our method.

We used Dall E and Stable Diffusion Demo software to generate images that we will later swap our own faces onto, and then use to animate for the characters to repeat the lines. We then placed the animated faces onto the image during the edit.

We have also used a synthetic text generator to create some random text for some of the lines. This is an attempt at suggesting the existence of mere consciousness.

Our final outcome is not the most complete: the motion tracking for the animation isn’t perfect, there could be more concept developments, etc. But we have tested a wide range of synthetic media software and learned their limitations. Overall, I am happy with our outcome. We have achieved what we wanted to do for the most part, and I enjoy the “DIY”-esk process of ours.
