P Comp Lab Processes

Midterm Progress

For this week, Alina and I worked on different components of ur separately due to Alina’s traveling. Our plan is to work out individual parts and construct them together this week.

The first thing I did was a cardboard paper prototype to test user experience, as well as to plan the housing of the components.

The box’s dimensions are written on the box in the image.

I used the cardboard paper box to ask people on the floor how far would they stick their hand into a box without knowing the content of the box. And the two dots on the box are the most frequent answer.

For the actual finished product of the box, the hole needs to be smaller, so the interior of the box wouldn’t be visible. And the back of the box might potentially be longer for the housing of the breadboard in the back.

Second thing I worked on is getting the value from the PIR sensor. This process of this was a bit more complicated than I imagined. Initially, I tried to control a LED light with the sensor but the value was always stuck.

So I just focused on getting different values from the sensor.

The result was semi-sucessful. The main issue is the environment. The adjustment of sensitivity and delay of the censor needs to be in a fairly controlled environment. I will have to continue to adjust that when doing the housing of the sensor.
