Matchbox

For the enclosure assignment, I wanted to make a box that’s not typically made with wood or other materials that are made to be used for longer. The matchbox is what I ended up working with.

I used the same technique to craft a box for my midterm project for Pcomp last semester, but crafting a box as small as a matchbox is still challenging. There are some trail and errors but I got the tolerance correct. (I will bring some artifacts to class, but I do not have photos of the evidence. Will upload more pictures soon )I used wood glue to attach the sanding paper to the side.

First attempt at making the joint system. Wrong measurement of the thickness of the wood as well as the wrong size of the box.
First attempt at the outer box. Wrong calculation of the tolerance.

The inner box itself is fairly sturdy, but the outer box is still flimsy (partially due to the quality of the wood). In the future development, I want to think of a different way of making the outer box using different tools.
